Hector Claro Montt, Board Member at TLN – Transporte y Logistica Nacional, in Chile has been a partner with Hackney for more than 20 years. He is an assembler and distributor for Coca Cola and a Chilean brewery. We reached out to Hector to find out more about how he manages his distribution logistics and how Hackney plays a role in his successful business.
What differences do you see in our bodies versus other brands?
“As an assembler, you can see the structural quality difference between the Brazilian and Hackney bodies and why the Hackney body has such a longer life.”
How do you think Hackney measures up with your customers?
“We purchased Hackney trucks in 2010 and 2013. Ten years later you can see the bodies are in very nice shape. I think that with a refurbishment you can make them last another 5-10 years. The Hackney drop frame is another important factor to my business because the frame has a lower height which helps prevent falling accidents.
The most essential considerations for our customers are the cost, image, and safety.”
Speaking to the expense relating to safety, can you tell a cost difference since using Hackney?
“When we changed from standard bodies to Hackney there was a huge difference. I do not have all the statistics at the moment, but it was roughly 50% less accidents.”
Finally, what do you think is the biggest advantage of your Hackney units?
“The quality in construction and the simplicity to repair, where you can see the engineering hours Hackney has dedicated to the design. Many parts of the body are so well built and designed to last longer. The rollup doors make all the difference, not because the parts are cheaper, but it takes less hours to maintain.”
